VKS Sharanya Welfare Society Launches Skill Academy and Artisan Craft Centre in Hyderabad

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], January 5 : VKS Sharanya Welfare Society, a 14-year-old
non-profit organisation working towards social upliftment and livelihood
generation, has inaugurated a new branch of the VKS Created Skill Academy
at Shamshabad, Madhura Nagar, Hyderabad. The initiative has been launched under
the Society’s skill centre programme aimed at empowering youth through
market-oriented training and placement support.

The facility was inaugurated on January 1 by Sri
Madepatti Srinivas Rao, Superintendent of Police, CID, Telangana
, in the
presence of community members, artisans, and beneficiaries associated with the
organisation’s programmes.

The newly launched Skill Academy has been
designed to address the growing gap between education and employability. It
offers structured training aligned with current industry requirements, enabling
young individuals to acquire practical skills that improve their chances of
employment. The programme focuses on skill development, work readiness, and
placement assistance, with the objective of helping youth achieve financial
independence and long-term career stability.

According to the organisation, the Skill Academy
will work closely with industry partners and training professionals to ensure
that the curriculum remains relevant to market needs. The initiative primarily
targets youth from economically weaker sections, providing them access to
skill-based education that can translate into sustainable livelihood
opportunities.

Alongside the Skill Academy, the Society also
inaugurated a handcrafted artisan boutique, which showcases traditional
and contemporary handcrafted products created by artisans from West Bengal,
Rajasthan, and Telangana
. The craft centre aims to preserve and promote
India’s rich cultural heritage while supporting rural artisan communities.

The boutique features a diverse range of
products including terracotta pottery, earthenware coffee mugs and cutlery,
terracotta jewellery, handloom kurtas, kantha work garments, silk dupattas,
kalamkari prints, block-printed fabrics, appliqué work sarees, and ethnic
apparel. The space has been curated to reflect traditional aesthetics, offering
visitors an immersive experience of India’s regional art forms.

Each product sold at the craft centre directly
contributes to the livelihood of artisan families, creating a sustainable
income model rooted in traditional craftsmanship. The initiative has been
conceptualised and executed by women, with a strong focus on supporting women
artisans and encouraging community-led economic participation.

The artisan boutique operates under Alpona,
an art initiative that has been active for the past 14 years and is associated
with VKS Sharanya Welfare Society. Alpona has consistently worked towards
creating platforms for traditional artists to showcase their work and connect
with wider markets.

Addressing the
gathering, Sri Madepatti Srinivas Rao, Superintendent of Police, CID

Telangana, stated that he was familiar with the founder of the
organisation and her long-standing commitment to supporting destitute and
marginalised communities. He noted that her dedication to social service
motivated him to inaugurate both the Skill Academy and the craft centre. He
encouraged the organisation to expand its reach to rural areas and continue
working towards empowerment through education, skills, and self-reliance.

The Chief Guest spent time interacting with the
founder, artisans, and beneficiaries, and extended his best wishes for the
continued success of the initiatives.

With the launch of the VKS Creative Skill
Academy and the artisan craft centre, VKS Creative Skill Academy aims to
strengthen its efforts in youth empowerment, skill development, cultural
preservation, and inclusive economic growth.
